About

smileMy name is Amanda Scheffer Cavanagh, and I have been thinking of starting a blog for quite some time. While the final push I needed was a graduate class, I am hoping to explore many aspects of life and learning through this blog. One topic that I will be most thoroughly discussing will be social media. I have my own company, Social Solutions For You, and I hope that while I learn more to help my clients, maybe I help some of my readers too! Hence the title Social Media Maven (expert).

However, some back story about me must be included to make the picture complete. One thing that I truly enjoy is talking about my life. I am 25 and married. What makes my life special to me is that I constantly have to navigate the rough road of living in a multi religious household. I am Jewish and my husband was raised Catholic. With the influence of in-laws and other family and friends, sometimes it can be quite a complicated way of life. Luckily, my husband and I are usually on the same page. The truth is though, I wouldn’t change a thing! I love the tsoriss (suffering) I get from my family.

Right now I am embarking on a new journey, graduate school. It is complicated by the fact that I have 2 dogs, a husband, a full time job, a part time consulting job, and a client for business. I am hoping to build an audience here that I can relate to and grow with. Look forward to hearing from you and I hope you like what I have to say!

  1. Hello Amanda,

I thoroughly relate to your family plight. I too am Jewish and had married someone who was not! At times I felt like a stranger in a strange land trying to bridge both worlds in some traditional way. I was utterly outnumbered and so most times I just had to coast quietly along since my husband’s family had over a hundred people or so. I had a family of about a dozen scattered around the globe like specks of sand. You are lucky to be around now when religions are not as divisive as they were in the past.
You sound like you have a full life and I thank you for your blog – it was interesting, easy to follow and informative.
    Always,
    Sarah

    • Hi Sarah,

Thanks so much for commenting! I am very fortunate that both families have been welcoming and adjusted well to the changes. For instance, this year Thanksgiving and Hanukkah will happen on the same night and my in-laws are excited to celebrate that special moment in time with me.
